Back in 2012, Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian hooked up with industry vet Tim Harris to start work on a new sci-fi shooter for iOS called Midnight Star. Tonight, finally, it'll be out.

It's set 120 years in the future and involves blasting ugly aliens with all kinds of pew-pews and bang-bangs. Yes, guns, that's what they're called.

We got our hands on Midnight Star last year and had quite a good time with it. Sure, it's an on-rails shooter, which will no doubt get some groans, but it works well.

You see, without having to worry about moving your character, you can focus on blasting aliens with a touch of the finger. It's all about scoring chains of kills.

Once you've cleared out a rocky terrain or clobbering brutes and insectoid pests, you head back to your ship to upgrade everything. Yes, everything: your guns, ships, skills, the lot.

FDG Entertainment has been responsible for publishing several great titles over the years including the likes of Oceanhorn and Super Cat Tales. So, any kind of information regarding a new game is going to get people excited, even if the information is a tad threadbare.

Today's announcement then is for a game called Battlemons that will be heading for both iOS and Android at some stage in 2021. We don't really know an awful lot more than that at the moment in truth but there are few clues that point towards what we might expect when the game eventually launches.
We're happy to announce we're working on #Battlemons! Please stay tuned for more infos in the future????#iOS #Android pic.twitter.com/AolvmWPHfk— FDG Entertainment (@FDG_Games) June 17, 2020The logo is simply the word Battlemons with the 'o' being an orange and white egg. This has led folks to believe that this will be some kind of Pokemon-like title. You can definitely see the logic, with the whole 'mon' angle of the name and the egg implying there'll be hatching of creatures involved. I'd certainly be up for playing a game of that ilk.
Oceanhorn 2: Golden Edition is a wonderful stand-in for Zelda on mobile, but is that enough? - Review
There is currently a website for the game that appears to confirm this. The description of Battlemons you can find there is 'Lost on a faraway planet - taming monsters to survive.' Beyond that though, it's simply a still image at the moment, so there's not an awful lot of to glean from the site itself.

Battlemons is set to launch on the App Store and Google Play at some stage in 2021. We don't know any details on pricing just yet but we'll be sure to keep you updated whenever we learn more.
Interested in playing other games that haven't fully released just yet? Top War: Battle Game - Funtap MOD APK
I treated myself to a New 2DS XL and Animal Crossing: New Leaf in the January sales and already I can feel myself losing most of my life to it. But, uh, probably not like this lady.

Twitter user Paul Hubans was transferring his grandmother's 3DS data over to a new console after her original one sadly broke, and decided to sneak a peek at her activity log while he was doing so. And damn, that lady is serious about Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

My 87-year-old grandma has played Animal Crossing New Leaf on her 3DS every single day for the past 4 years now.Her 3DS finally broke this year, so we got her a new one for Christmas. During a system transfer I checked her activity log: pic.twitter.com/R33KycrW4q— Paul ?? Hubans (@phubans) January 1, 2019
Huban's grandma has clocked in a whopping 3580 hours on the game over the last four years, and apparently has played at least once a day, every single day. The 3DS totals that up to an average of 1 hour 25 minutes for each session, which is a fair bit of tree-shaking and fossil-digging.

We here at Pocket Gamer spend quite a bit of time playing games, but I doubt anyone in the team has managed to plonk even 1000 hours on a single game in the last four years. Unless Harry isn't telling us everything about his New Star Manager addiction.

But if there's a game you're going to sink thousands upon thousands of hours into, you can't go far wrong with New Leaf. We gave it our Gold Award way back in 2013, with our reviewer saying that it was "the best Animal Crossing has ever been". And that was before the huge Welcome Amiibo update.

So hats off to Huban's grandmother, and may she continue to pour hours and hours into her favourite game. I'm sure many of you lovely readers are jealous of how much time she has to spend on gaming - is there any game you've spent even close to that amount of time on? Let us know in the comments.

Or go ahead and drop something in there along the lines of "wow must be a slow news day". All your thoughts are appreciated.

That seasoned woe had pelleted in tears,
A WOMAN possessed a Hen that gave her an egg every day. She often pondered how she might obtain two eggs daily instead of one, and at last, to gain her purpose, determined to give the Hen a double allowance of barley. From that day the Hen became fat and sleek, and never once laid another egg.

There my white stole of chastity I daffed,"Anne, will you let me come and stay with you while Susan is away?" exclaimed Leslie. "Do! I'd love to--and it would be an act of charity on your part. I'm so horribly lonely over there in that big barn of a house. There's so little to do--and at night I'm worse than lonely--I'm frightened and nervous in spite of locked doors. There was a tramp around two days ago."
